Mount Auburn Hospital's Department of Psychiatry offers a wide range of services to the Cambridge community. We provide a full-service outpatient psychiatric clinic for patients ages 18 and older, offering treatment for various psychiatric problems including generalized anxiety, depression and other mood disorders and stress management issues, as well as more severe, disabling psychiatric disorders. Our Center for Prevention and Recovery provides treatment for alcoholism and chemical dependency, as well as gambling addiction.

The aged are often affected by psychiatric issues including dementia (Alzheimer's and non-Alzheimer's related), depression and anxiety. We offer a full range of geriatric psychiatric services at The Wyman Center Mental Health Services for Older Adults, including acute inpatient as well as outpatient treatment for patients and their families. We also work closely with Mount Auburn Hospital's Center for Women, consulting with our women's services providers to diagnose and treat issues relating to postpartum depression, menopause and infertility. Often, illnesses such as heart disease and stroke initiate the development of depression and anxiety. We realize the importance of integrated care, and provide active psychiatric consultation to our Emergency Department, as well as our inpatient medical and surgical units and primary care providers to assist in the psychiatric issues that often arise alongside physical illness, including chronic diseases such as Parkinson's and MS.

Mount Auburn Hospital's psychiatrists are an integral part of your healthcare team. We realize that good mental health is an important element of overall physical well-being, and we work closely with other doctors, nurses, and therapists to ensure your optimal recovery. Your family and other members of your support group are always included in the therapeutic process. We strive to offer integrated, comprehensive psychiatric services with sensitivity to your individual issues. We also work closely with internal medicine residents, ensuring that they understand the psychological issues related to medical illness.

Mount Auburn Hospital's Department of Psychiatry provides state-of-the-art medication treatment as well as acute psychotherapy and group therapy of a variety of types. For more information, please call 617-499-5054.
