Mentorship & Career Advising

MentorshipAt Mount Auburn Hospital, you’ll work with professionals committed to supporting your growth. They’ll help you navigate both your residency and your career path.

Academic Advising

Your academic advisor—an onsite faculty member—will offer practical guidance and support throughout your residency. You’ll meet regularly with your advisor to review your progress, as well as discuss your career goals and connect with the resources and people who can help you achieve them. You’ll be assigned an advisor at the beginning of your residency.

Evaluation and Feedback

During each rotation, you will receive feedback from your supervising attending who will complete an evaluation form that assesses the competencies defined by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).  These evaluations are completed on-line and you will receive this feedback in real-time.  Along with your advisor, you will also review these evaluations periodically throughout the year and in doing so identify strengths and areas for professional growth.  At the end of each academic year, you will receive a summary evaluation of your performance.

Mentor Support

During your residency, you’re encouraged to find a mentor—a physician who shares his or her experience and advice. You’ll develop a long-term relationship with someone who helps you see the big picture and fulfill your professional aspirations. If you need guidance finding a mentor, your academic advisor can assist you.

Resident Development Sessions

Joseph Omlor"I chose to train at Mount Auburn with hope to find a program that provided top-tier, evidence-based medical decision making in a community-hospital atmosphere. I've been happily surprised to find more than expected. My medical training has been very strong with a diverse diagnosis base and one-on-one training with attending physicians and specialists. Given the smaller size of the hospital I've also had the ability to build strong relationships with not only my co-residents and attending physicians but also the entire hospital in general. I truly recommend Mount Auburn to compassionate, patient-based caregivers looking to continue their education at a teaching hospital in a strong academic region." Joe Omlor, MD
