Breast Imaging Center of Excellence
Whether you’re getting a mammogram or another imaging procedure, you can be confident of our high standards for image quality and your safety. That’s because Mount Auburn is an American College of Radiology-accredited Breast Imaging Center of Excellence.
Find Breast Cancer Early
The American Cancer Society recommends annual mammograms for women starting at age 40. These screening mammograms can find breast cancer before symptoms appear—when it’s easier to treat.
Breast Tomosynthesis (3-D Mammography)
Breast tomosynthesis, or 3-D mammography, is available to everyone getting a screening mammogram at Mount Auburn Hospital. We were among the first hospitals in the country to adopt this technology, which takes many low-dose X-ray pictures of the breast, allowing doctors to see inside the breast more clearly.
Experts in Early Detection
When you choose Mount Auburn for your annual screening, you benefit from the expertise of attentive radiologists who interpret more than 20,000 mammograms a year. We detect breast cancer in its earliest stages at rates higher than the national average.
Dense Breast Tissue Notification
When you get a mammogram at Mount Auburn, you’ll be informed if you have dense breast tissue. Because dense breast tissue can make cancer more difficult to detect, your doctor may recommend supplemental screening tests, such as an ultrasound or MRI.
