According to the American Cancer Society, keeping active and eating more whole, plant-based foods can significantly improve our wellbeing. What a better place to get some exercise, enjoy the fresh air, and learn some healthy recipes than a local, organic farm?
Join fellow cancer survivors and a team of physicians and residents from Mount Auburn Hospital at the Waltham Fields Community Farm, a nonprofit organization that promotes local agriculture and food access through farming operations and educational programs. We will work together in the fields, build relationships through volunteerism, learn a new recipe using farm-fresh produce, and enjoy an authentic farm-to-table tasting. Your participation in harvest activities will support Waltham Fields Community Farm’s charitable initiatives to improve access to fresh food for low-income households and local schools.
Stay for lunch; refreshments will be served. This activity takes place outdoors; dress in layers and wear closed-toe shoes. Ability to walk up to half a mile and lift up to 10 pounds is required.
This event is free! Space is limited.
