Provider Philosophy

Growing up on a farm in Virginia, I had the opportunity to experience the awe inspiring natural process of birth with different animals. I believe this fueled my desire to help women to preserve their own natural process of birth.
I did my undergraduate degree studies at Tufts University; through a Community Health Program, my horizons were opened to Midwifery. With my first experience of human birth, I knew this was my path. Although my journey to Midwifery brought me through an initial career as a chef, I now try to nourish the soul instead of just the body.
I earned my Nursing and Midwifery degrees at Columbia University and started practice in 2001. I have worked in many different institutions in the Boston area and I also had a private GYN and fertility practice, where I specialized in women with histories of trauma. Then I found my Mount Auburn Hospital home, a fabulous place to give birth. I have been at this hospital since 2005.
Now I work mainly on Labor and Delivery because greeting new babies into the world is such an amazing honor that I am humbled to be a part of.
I also teach a childbirth education class, which is a very thorough 3 week series called "Childbirth Your Way".
Outside of Midwifery, I have 2 wonderful daughters and my collection of Beagles. I enjoy cooking, exercise, travel, and taking care of my husband's elderly grandmother.
