My father is a doctor and my mother is an artist - I believe these two passions came together to lead me to midwifery. I grew up in St. Paul, Minnesota and attended Yale University School of Nursing. While at Yale I did my final internship with the Midwives at Mount Auburn. I was privileged enough to be offered a job with this wonderful group of midwives and haven't looked back since. Now 10 years and more than 500 births later I still feel lucky every day to be working here!
I practice full scope midwifery including prenatal, birth, postnatal and gynecology care at Women's Health Care at Waltham and the Charles River Community Health Center. I have worked hard over the years on developing hospital policies to improve our patients' experience. Two accomplishments that I am proud of bringing to Mount Auburn Hospital are Nitrous Oxide as an option for pain relief in labor and skin-to-skin in the OR after c-sections. I speak Spanish and am passionate about working with the recent immigrant population. When I'm not working I enjoy hanging out in Somerville with my husband and my Bengal cat. I'm also in a band that plays around town called Hot Molasses.
