Yale University School of Nursing, M.S.N/C.N.M.
After graduating from the University of Michigan with a degree in English and Political Science, I went into the Peace Corps. I lived in Burkina Faso, West Africa where I taught English and Health. After my experience in West Africa where I witnessed so many lives affected by devastating health conditions, I was determined to pursue a career in the medical field. To gain experience, I started working at a teen health clinic where I met an incredible midwife who inspired me to study midwifery. Thereafter, I attended Yale University where I received my Masters in Midwifery in 2004.
Upon graduation, I still yearned to do international work so I took a job as the director of women’s health for an international nonprofit in Haiti. I worked in Haiti until the birth of my first son, as traveling back and forth to Haiti was no longer so feasible with a little child. I then was fortunate to transition to the Mount Auburn Midwives. I worked with Mount Auburn until 2009 when my family relocated to New Mexico to live on the Navajo Reservation. We spent a fantastic three years in New Mexico doing a lot of hiking, camping, rafting and biking. During that time, I worked per diem for a small midwifery practice in the area.
The pull of family, jobs, and schools have brought us back to the New England area where I am thrilled to rejoin my midwifery colleagues at Mount Auburn.
