As the longest-tenured member of the department of Neurology, Mount Auburn Hospital is proud to have Dr. Linda Y. Buchwald on staff since 1975. Dr. Buchwald has over 50 years’ experience in medicine and neurology, and is Medical Director of the Multiple Sclerosis Care Center and Medical Director of the hospital’s Electrophysiology Lab and Medical Director of the El-Baz Center for Multiple Sclerosis and Devic’s Disease. In addition to her roles at Mount Auburn Hospital, she is an Instructor in Medicine at Harvard Medical School, an Assistant Clinical Professor at Boston University School of Medicine, and an Assistant Clinical Professor at Tufts University School of Medicine.
Throughout her career, Dr. Buchwald has held several distinguished leadership and committee positions. She is currently on the Clinical Advisory Boards of the Greater New England Multiple Sclerosis Society and the Epilepsy Association of Greater Boston.
She is also on the Medical Advisory Board of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, and a Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology. Dr. Buchwald has coedited chapters of neurological books and participated in several research studies involving MS. She has chaired the Legislative Affairs and Membership Committee of the American Academy of Neurology and has been a member of its Educational Committee. She has won the prestigious Presidential Award of the Academy and has served as the President of the Massachusetts Neurological Association. Next to the practice of neurology with expertise in multiple sclerosis, Dr. Buchwald has gained great satisfaction in her advocacy work at both state and federal levels.
