Mount Auburn Pediatrics
Personal, preventative, professional care.
That is how we characterize our pediatric practice.
Mount Auburn Pediatrics is pleased to be the pediatric arm of the healthcare network, Beth-Israel Lahey Health as it forges ahead in providing high-quality, individualized care of the pediatric population in Cambridge and its surrounding communities.
Our team is comprised of four board-certified pediatricians: Drs. Fan, Farrington, Need and Yogman who may be reached directly via appointment or by phone during off-hours. We also offer call-in hours weekday mornings during which you may speak directly to a pediatrician.
We are proud of our certification as a Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) as we strive to provide routine health care maintenance and screenings in addition to collaborative management of complex patients through our relationships with our excellent local tertiary care pediatric hospitals, including Boston Children’s Hospital. Both lab and X-ray services are located on-site with results communicated through our electronic medical record, EPIC via MyChart.
Please join us in keeping your child/children healthy. We offer a monthly meet the pediatrician meeting so that you may learn more about us. We encourage in-office prenatal visits with expectant parents as a way of starting this important and long-lasting relationship.
Laura Need, MD
Dr. Laura Need has been practicing pediatrics in the Greater Boston Area for over 25 years. A graduate of Wellesley College, she spent two years in research studying endocrine regulation, before attending Harvard Medical School. She completed her pediatric training at Massachusetts General Hospital and went on to a fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology at Children's Hospital, Boston. Having realized her interests were primarily clinical, she left academia to focus on patient care. Since then, Dr. Need has worked in both hospital and primary care settings, providing care to children of all ages. Her experience includes working as a pediatric hospitalist at Emerson Hospital, and caring for newborns at Mount Auburn Hospital, as well as primary care pediatrics on the South Shore and in a university health service. She enjoys the long term relationships that primary care pediatrics allow her to develop with her patients and their families.
Ashley Farrington, MD
Dr. Ashley Farrington is a dedicated primary care pediatrician and Massachusetts native. She grew up in Holliston, Massachusetts, then attended the University of Notre Dame for her undergraduate studies. She returned to her home state for medical school and pediatric residency at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Dr. Farrington has always been drawn to primary care and her experiences working in orphanages in Nicaragua and Tanzania solidified her focus on pediatrics. She has worked for several years as a primary care pediatrician in a community health center. She thrives off of the long-term bonds that pediatricians are fortunate enough to forge with parents and children.
Amy Fan, MD
Dr. Amy Fan spent her early childhood in China before moving to sunny California with her parents. After graduating with a bachelor's degree in Sociocultural Anthropology, she moved east to attend medical school at the University of Virginia, during which time she became a medical content maker for Khan Academy. She continued with her interest in creative technology application during her pediatric training at Georgetown University, starting the YouTube channel "Ask Dr. Amy" to make videos for parents on common pediatric topics. She is passionate about improving access and efficiency in the future of primary care. She is a native speaker of English and Mandarin Chinese, and is conversational in Spanish and German.
